Questions and Answers on
the Grand Auction and Bidding Process

How can I attend one or more of the three sessions of the Grand Auction?
You can attend the auction by invitation. If you wish to be invited, please contact us at auction [at] elephantparade [dot] com or +65 63 83 66 63.

Need I be present at the auction to buy an elephant?
No, you need not be present but you must have received an invitation to attend either auction session to make a bid, either by telephone during the auction or by having sent in the bidding form at least 24 hours before the auction session (available online and in the Auction Catalog).

Is there a minimum to the pre-bid I can place?
Yes, there is.  We accept bids for the first session from S$9,000 and up and for the second and third session from S$4,000 and up. Should you place a (much) higher bid, the auctioneer will consider this as your maximum bid, however bids will be executed for the lowest price as is permitted by other bids, the aforementioned minimum and/or our reserve (if any).

I am invited to the auction and would like to bid. Do I receive a paddle for bidding?
Yes, bidding is accomplished by use of paddles. Prior to the start of the session you are attending, you will be asked to fill in a Paddle Registration Form and hand over a copy of your ID Card/Passport for identification purposes, after which you will receive your paddle. If you inform us of your intention to bid, we will send you the auction [at] elephantparade [dot] com (Paddle Registration Form) to pre-register as this will save you time upon arrival at the auction.

Will I receive an invoice for my purchase?
Certainly, you will receive an invoice for your purchase within two days after the sale. Payment is due immediately after the sale. For ways of payment, please see our conditions of business available online and in theAuction Catalog.

Will you take care of transport of my purchase?
Our preferred logistics partner, Rhema Events & Arts Services, can take care of all necessary transport (local and international) and storage beforehand. At each session there will be a 'Transportation Desk' to take care of all your transportation needs.

Is there a possibility to inspect the lots before the auction?
Yes, there is. From 8 until 11 January 2012 all art elephants can be viewed and inspected in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Eco Lake, from 9am till 8 pm.
