Elephant Parade Singapore VIP Preview

Before its official launch on 11 November 2011, Elephant Parade Singapore had a mini-stampede at the Asian Civilisations Museum where invited guests were given an exclusive and private preview of six elephant statues before they headed out to the streets of Singapore.

The by-invitation-only event was graced by Mr Tommy Koh and Ms Claire Chiang, Patron and Ambassador of Elephant Parade Singapore respectively, Mr Hugues Delcourt, Country Executive, ABN AMRO SIngapore and CEO, Private Banking Asia , Ms Sabine Roemer, internationally renowned jewellery designer who unveiled her elephant, Pretty & Pink, Mr Marc and Mike Spits, the father and son duo who founded Elephant Parade, Mr Foo Tiang Sooi, CEO of CK TANG Limited, the Elephant Parade Singapore team, as well as other high-profile guests who included partners and artists.

Guests were spotted admiring the six elephants on display that night which were Leona Lewis' 'Free Spirit', Ay Tjoe Christine's 'Space for the Three Alphabets', Yeesookyung's 'Translated Vase Baby Elephant', Sabine Roemer's 'Pretty & Pink', Ben Cabrera's 'Santan' and Arturo Sanchez Jr.'s 'Bula', and were shown a slideshow of all 162 elephants.

Mr Mike Spits then took the opportunity to thank the guests for their continuous support of Elephant Parade Singapore, before inviting Mr Tommy Koh, Patron of Elephant Parade Singapore, on stage to say a few words about the importance of the conservation of Asian elephants. Mr Tommy Koh was then presented with the Elephant Parade artbook.

Mr Hugues Delcourt, CEO of South East Asia, ABN AMRO Private Banking, spoke about the importance of preserving a legacy and how being the 'Presenting Sponsor' of Elephant Parade Singapore 2011 allows ABN AMRO to make a meaningful contribution towards conserving the noble Asian Elephants. Thereafter, Ms Sabine Roemer introduced her elephant and elaborated on the inspiration behind its design.

Guests then mingled through the evening and each left with a complimentary copy of the artbook and route map. And with this, Elephant Parade Singapore would like to thank all its patrons, partners, sponsors, artists and everyone else who has played a role in saving the Asian elephant!
