I once kept a small zoo in the garden, a sunny and cheerful time, but also a time when I was fortunately unaware of all the animal suffering in the big world. Everything was possible and allowed. Animals were traded and hunted in large numbers. Fortunately, a lot has changed since then, but despite the worldwide rules that exist in the trade and protection of exotic species, I see the future quite gloomy. It is not five to twelve, but only a few seconds before. Hence my title 'Dark Clouds Ahead'. My figures carry the hope for a (better) future on their backs, symbolized by the little elephants. Through a desolate landscape they search for water, greenery, a better world. I hope this initiative can illuminate their future and point them in the right direction. Away from the threatening clouds.
