Amsterdam is celebrating its 750th anniversary in 2025, marking a major milestone in the city's rich history. Founded in 1275, the Dutch capital has grown from a small fishing village to a vibrant, multicultural metropolis known for its canals, culture, and innovation. The anniversary will be celebrated with a year-long program of events, including exhibitions, festivals, concerts, and special activities that highlight Amsterdam’s heritage and future.
As part of the celebrations, 15 elephant sculptures will be displayed on Beursplein from 19 May to 29 June. This artistic initiative aims to raise awareness for elephant conservation while adding a creative touch to the city’s festivities. Locals and visitors alike will have the chance to reflect on Amsterdam’s past while looking ahead to the next chapter in its development.
