The design is a bold spin on Nicobar’s signature motif with a deeper meaning that symbolises the elephant’s dwindling natural habitat. It is an artistic interpretation of roads (zebra crossings) and railway tracks. The fronds on the elephant’s back represent the lack of forest cover available to them, and how they’re being pushed into a corner.
