The exhibition in Floripa was made up of 81 elephant sculptures. During September and October the artists decorated the sculptures, and in November 2015 the elephants appeared on the streets and sights of Florianópolis for the first time ever. The final event took place on the 2nd of April 2016, with a charity auction of the art pieces.
Located in the South of Brazil, Florianópolis is the capital of Santa Catarina state. As the majority of the city area is an island, “Floripa” (as it is known by all) is famous for its more than 40 beaches. Tourism is especially intense in the Summer months, when the city receives visitors from all parts of Brazil and other nearby countries, such as Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. As the event took place during the 2015-2016 Summer, Elephant Parade Floripa was another cultural attraction that excited the city’s population and tourists in the season.
